In "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan, he poses a statement that has constantly challenged me and the way that I approach my faith. He says, "Jesus asks for everything. But we serve Him our leftovers". Too often I have found myself looking at my faith in Christ as a "what I have left" instead of a "the best that I have to give" type of mentality.
As the new year approached and I was asked repeatedly what "resolutions" I was going to make...and what I was going to change. And so this blog was inspired. Over the next year I plan on no longer serving just the leftover...when I have time...or when it fits best in my schedule...to God. I am going to read through the entirety of the Bible in this next year (2013).
This blog is being created to be able to talk about one verse and one thought from every chapter of the Bible. By the time that this mission is over, I will have read the Bible from beginning to end. That will be 66 books, 1189 chapters, and roughly 31,103 verses.
To help this journey out, I am going to use the You Version Reading Plan. You Version is a free resource that is used by millions through their app that is available to all smart phones. It is a FANTASTIC place to be able look at, choose, and read the Bible for yourself. I am going to use the Come Drink Live 365 Plan. This plan calls for a six day per week reading plan that is designed to read 3 chapter of the Old Testament, and 1 chapter of the New Testament.
My goal in this is to help inspire, and encourage others to read it for yourself along the way. I am longer willing to serve seconds ..or leftovers in my walk wit Christ. I want to be changed, molded and formed into who He wants me to be...I invite you to join me in this journey. Feel free to comment, ask questions, post your own commentary, and respond as this journey begins...are you ready to start the mission?
