The journey to read through the bible in one year. One thought and one verse from every book and chapter of the bible…
GENESIS 46
Genesis 46:29 Joseph had his chariot made ready and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel. As soon as Joseph appeared before him, he threw his arms around his father and wept for a long time.
I loved reading this verse. After years and years of being apart from his father, Joseph finally gets a chance to see him. What an incredible experience! I love that it captures the emotions and feelings that were going through Joseph at the time. I have a phenomenal relationship with my father. He is truly one of my best friends...someone that I constantly look up to and respect...someone that I seek advice from and has shown me what leadership, fatherhood, how to be a good husband, and most importantly, what a relationship with Christ looks like. And I am thankful for that relationship. More then I can put into words. So I read this verse, and it reminds me how thankful that I am for that relationship. As my dad has battled over the last 7 plus years with cancer, I am reminded that I want to/need to take advantage of those moments that I get to connect and talk to him. Just like Joseph, we dont know if/when the time is going to come for ANY of us that we cant connect with our parents. Lets take advantage of it while we can. I love you dad!
GENESIS 47
Genesis 47: 13 There was no food, however, in the whole region because the famine was severe; both Egypt and Canaan wasted away because of the famine.
This verse shows that God is someone that keeps His word. In the dream that Pharaoh had, God showed him exactly what was going to come to pass. And it did. We can bank of the fact that He will do the things that He says.
GENESIS 48
Genesis 48:14 But Israel reached out his right hand and put it on Ephraim’s head, though he was the younger, and crossing his arms, he put his left hand on Manasseh’s head, even though Manasseh was the firstborn.
I love that constantly through out scripture, God continuously shows us a different plan and a different way. In this case, it should have been the other way around, but God isnt interested in doing things the way that we always want them to look and feel. He is all knowing...wanting to show that He can and will use anyone and everyone. It isnt the oldest, strongest, best looking, homecoming kings, prom queens, or most popular, but those who are sold out...dedicated...the least...the broken...and the dependent Dont ever think that you are outside of the range of being able to be used by God. He takes your story...your faithfulness...and even if you dont see it, turns it into something amazing.
