Leviticus 10
Leviticus 10:3 Moses then said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord spoke of when he said:“‘Among those who approach me, I will show myself holy;in the sight of all the people I will be honored.’”
God is not a joke or someone to be taken lightly. He is Holy...Powerful and Awesome! How are you approaching Him today? He is blameless and pure. We need to honor Him today. It made me stop and think about what it means to me to honor Him. If the President was coming to my house today, I would clean like I have never cleaned before. There would be a huge level of respect and honor that I would feel and give. But here we have someone who is even MORE then that, and to be honest, someone that I take for granted far more then I give honor to. I dont always give my best...I dont spend time with Him...and I ignore the things that He calls me to. What are you doing to honor Him? Think about it...think about it. He IS someone that WILL be honored...
Leviticus 11
Leviticus 11:45 I am the Lord who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.
God reminded them who He was by calling their attention back to what He had done for them. This passage made me stop, and I pulled out a note card and a pen, and I just began to list in the last month what God has done for me. As the list grew longer and longer, I was blown away. And so I encourage you to do that. Right now. Maybe you feel like you have had a rough stretch...and dont know where He is at. Take some time and SEE how He IS with you. EVERY single step of the way! It is amazing and awesome to see all the ways that He has worked and is working. I was left so encouraged, joyful, and pumped in how God delights in me! I praise the God that made and believes in, and created me! You are Holy...and you WILL be praised! Thank you for ALL that you have done and are doing...may I constantly remind myself of who you are and what you have done...
Leviticus 12
Leviticus 12:8 If she cannot afford a lamb, she is to bring two doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be clean.’
This verse reminded me of how God will always make a way for people to be able to connect with Him no matter what the circumstances or situations that they are facing. Rich, or poor God doesnt care. All He cares about is our obedience and heart in relationship with Him.
Leviticus 13
Levitiucs 13:40-41 “When a man has lost his hair and is bald, he is clean. 41 If he has lost his hair from the front of his scalp and has a bald forehead, he is clean.
This verse made me laugh! To all the bald or balding men that are out there...you are safe! lol...
Matthew 25
Matthew 25:44-46 44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.
I think that we far too easily skip over these verses and words of Jesus. In this whole section, we see a call to the poor, homeless, imprisoned and desperate. The "bottom of society". But Jesus makes a strong case that we NEED to take them seriously. Four years ago, I led a missions trip to the inner city of Chicago. The primary goal was to work with the poos and homeless. I had always had the perception of a homeless person being someone who hadnt showered in days...was dirty and begging on the street corner. Someone that as you drove by you made sure that the doors were locked and avoided eye contact at all cost. But that week God opened my eyes and I was so convicted by this passage and the need to search out and help the poor and homeless. I question was asked of us that really hit home. Do we have anyone who is poor or homeless that we called friends. Or even knew. I think that we can take this passage and just begin to think of it in terms of writing checks or giving something to a food or clothing drive. But do you KNOW anyone? We are called to reach out. To be Him to everyone. I encourage you to think about it. Are you doing what Jesus so clearly calls us to?
Matthew 26
Matthew 26:75 Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.
Peter never in his life would have felt more broken and alone then in this moment. He had done the one thing that he swore that he would never do. I have found myself in that place on weeping bitterly...feeling so alone and destitute. Unworthy of the love of God. This passage reminded me that we all go through moments of brokenness and bitterness. But in the midst of that, Gods love for me NEVER changes. Be encouraged and know that He will always love you no matter what you have done...
