The journey to read through the bible in one year. One thought and one verse from every book and chapter of the bible…
Leviticus 22
Leviticus 22:18-19 “If you present a gift as a burnt offering to the Lord, whether it is to fulfill a vow or is a voluntary offering, 19 you will be accepted only if your offering is a male animal with no defects. It may be a bull, a ram, or a male goat
Animals that were with defect were not acceptable as sacrifices to the Lord because they do not represent the Holiness or the Perfection of who God is. I love the way that God sets up the life that Jesus led by the fact that He had to live a perfect, sinless life. If He had had just one blemish, He would not have been that perfect sacrifice... When we give our best, it is what He wants from us.
Leviticus 23
Leviticus 23:14 Do not eat any bread or roasted grain or fresh kernels on that day until you bring this offering to your God. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation wherever you live.
This verse reminds me the importance of the tithe and in giving our first and best to God. The Festival of the First Fruits required that first crops that were harvested needed to be given to God. Today, God still expects us to set aside His portion first. Far too often we wait till the end...or once everything else has been paid. Giving our leftovers to God is a horrible way to express our thanks, obedience, and love to Him. Giving needs to be the first, and not the last thing that we do.
Leviticus 24
Leviticus 24:22 ...I am the Lord your God...
In so many of the chapters that I have read in the last few days, this saying keeps popping up. We cant ignore the fact that He is who He says that He is! He is always reminding, prompting, and showing us just that! Take some time, and remember who He is!
Leviticus 25
Leviticus 25:21 Be assured that I will send my blessing for you in the sixth year, so the land will produce a crop large enough for three years.
When we are faithful to God, He is just waiting to pour out His blessings upon us! But we need to be ready to STAY faithful and obey! That doesnt mean that we are going to rich or have everything that we want, but He will bless us with all of the things that we need. It is huge that we are willing to stay faithful and do what He is calling you and me too...
Matthew 28
Matthew 28:19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
WE ARE TO GO! Whether it is next door, to our co-workers, people that we are in school with, relatives...someone across the world...you and I are called to make disciples. I think where we far too often get this twisted, is that THIS IS NOT AN OPTION. It is a command that is given to all believers. Did you catch that? You and I are responsible. How many of us are sharing our faith on a constant basis? I dont believe in the call to bang it over peoples heads or to judge or crush people, but we are called to live it out and be willing to have those conversations. Go and make disciples...live it out...and tell people about that God that you and I serve...it is NOT an option if we call ourselves followers of Christ.
So far to date...
