How much time do you REALLY spend with God?

The journey to read through the bible in one year. One thought and one verse from every book and chapter of the bible…
Leviticus 1
Leviticus 1:3“‘If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you are to offer a male without defect. You must present it at the entrance to the tent of meeting so that it will be acceptable to the Lord.
God demands our best at all times. Even in the area of sacrifices that were made to Him. It isnt that He couldnt have said "bring a good one" or "any will do"...He is God...He can do whatever He wants. But He wanted us to know that in ALL things He demands the absolute best that we have. We have far too many of us that try so so hard to merge God in with what we think that He should be or look like instead of giving Him our all.
Leviticus 2
Leviticus 2:8 Bring the grain offering made of these things to the Lord; present it to the priest, who shall take it to the altar.
Through the death and subsequent resurrection of Jesus, we no longer need a priest in order to approach the alter of God. This passage reminded me of the way that God wants all of us to be able to have personal relationships with Him. We are no longer dependent on others as we seek to connect with Him. Lets be thankful for that today...
Leviticus 3
Leviticus 3:5 Then Aaron’s sons are to burn it on the altar on top of the burnt offering that is lying on the burning wood; it is a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.
I love growing flowers in the summer. I enjoy relaxing and working on my flower gardens! One of the biggest benefits is on those warm summer nights...with just a hint of a breeze...and sitting on the deck overlooking them and smelling the amazing aromas and smells that come from the garden. When we offer a sacrifice to God, it is a pleasing aroma to Him! I love the way that it is described in this verse! I cant help but smile and feel great in those moments on the deck. It is the same with God...when our lives reflect Him in all that we say and do, it is a pleasing aroma to Him!
Matthew 23
Matthew 23:11-12 11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
These words of Jesus hit me hard this afternoon. I wonder how many of us on a consistent basis struggle with pride. And even if we would say, that isnt something that is a big deal in MY life...what does it look like to be truly humble in all things. There is always going to be part of us that wants to do things our own way...to think that we know what is best...and to do things our own way. God calls us to be the biggest servants of all. To not worry about how "lowly" or seemingly "meaningless" a task may or may not be, but to look out for the needs of others and allow Him to use us in whatever way that he wants...Lets humble ourselves today and spend just one day looking out for and thinking about the needs of others.
Matthew 24
Matthew 24:24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
This verse serves as a very sobering and HUGE reminder and challenge for us all. If Jesus says that there is even a possibility that in the last days that the elect will be deceived then we need to be so careful about KNOWING who God is! This struck me in the area of reading our Bibles. I honestly believe that most people in our Evangelical Christian Churches spend very little to no time reading the Bible on a consistent basis. If that is the case, we are in an incredible amount of danger. To know who He is, we HAVE to spend time with Him. How much time do you ACTUALLY spend? And it isnt a legalistic question...it shouldnt be to cross something off of a list, but an honest reflection of the relationship that we have with Him...How can we know who He is? What He is about? And what He has called us to if we spend little to no time with Him? Dont just assume that you are going to be ok. Jesus says that even the elect have the possibility of being led astray. Spend time with Him and make sure that you know WHO He is and what He is about...
